Hours without sunshine
A recent acquisition on the turntable: the compilation ‘Heures sans Soleil’. Finally I found this LP for a nice price. Besides its musial merits I was also attracted by the graphic artwork. The title is well-chosen because the music isn’t that sunny. Fitting music for the time of the year.
The record was released in an edition of 1000 copies by LTM Publishing in 1985. It contains rare tracks from new wave / avantgarde bands including Section 25, Tuxedomoon and Clock DVA. Also present is Dutch ‘ultra’ group Minny Pops.

Efterklang teaser
A a one minute pre-taste of Efterklang’s new album Parades (announced for October 15) is posted on Youtube. The Danish group will play at Paradiso in Amsterdam on December 3rd.
Killing time
Yesterday I stumbled by accident on a record shop in The Hague I didn’t know yet. While waiting on a train, I decided to stroll a bit in the area around station Den Haag HS. Almost around the corner happened to be a small shop entitled Des Duivels Oorkussen. It has (used) vinyl only, with a focus on punk, wave and exotic music.
Interzone ambient night
This weekend I attented the first night of the InterZone Ambient Festival. The event was spread over two days at the nice venue Theater Kikker in Utrecht. In total five acts from Germany, two from the USA and one from Mexico were on the menu.

A teaser trailer for Sieben’s new album ‘Desire Rites’. Sieben will be on tour this month with Faun and In Gowan Ring.
Backworld - Good Infection
Good Infection, the new album from Backworld, features collaborations with Isobel Campbell, Drew McDowall of Coil, and David Tibet. Being amongst the first orders, I received a signed copy with an additional gift CD single of The Orchids. It’s a typical Backworld album, with melancholic folk songs filled with religious themes.
Fête avec Sonnenbrandt
Sonnenbrandt sailed from Hamburg to Brussels to play at the ‘electronique romantique’ stageduring the Fête de la Musique festival in June 2007.

Nice concert of these Swedish minimal guys which I attended in Brussels.
