Pan Sonic meat art

Pan Sonic is probably one of the most interesting contemporary electronic acts. This Finnish duo, consisting of Mika Vainio and Ilpo Vaisanen, recently released the ambitious 4cd box Kesto on Mute.
Pan Sonic has now made a musical creation for De Vleeshal, an exhibition space in the Dutch city of Middelburg. Inspired by the location’s former function (as a meat market) and distinctive gothic architecture, Pan Sonic has designed a site specific sound installation, which includes 26 metres of steel pipe. Effects have been added to the sound made by the meat hooks, transforming their tinkling into a powerful acoustic sound environment.
At the exhibition`s opening on April the 8th, Pan Sonic will perform a live improvisation on the created sound work. The sound installation can be visited from 09 April – 12 June 2005.
