Window shopping

athenaeum_window.jpgNo, this is not an old picture of an underground record store in the 80’s. This is the current shop window of bookshop Athenaeum in the centre of Amsterdam, which I spotted this weekend.

In order to pay attention to the new book Club Risiko. De jaren tachtig by Dutch journalist Fred de Vries, the window has been decorated with great record sleeves: Coil, Test Dept, SPK, Bauhaus, Mecano, Tuxedomoon, to name but a few.

The book guides you through the underground of the early 80’s from Berlin to Johannesburgh, with personal stories about Einstürzende Neubauten, The Ex, Laibach, Crass and many more. This book is surely on my wishlist, and so are quite a few of the records on display…

    Hey Hans,

Toevallig heb ik dat boek vorige week uitgelezen. Het is echt een aanrader! Leest als een trein, leuke feiten, lachen om Blixa’s maniertjes… Echt de moeite.
    Gruesse!
