now and then i discover a band which name i have known for years, but which music was fairly unknown to me. a while back i was pleasantly surprised by the australian group the triffids. their retrospective ‘australian melodrama’ has an appropriate title, with many great melancholic guitar tunes with nice classical elements.
this week i obtained a best-of by eyeless in gaza, the band around martyn bates and peter becker on the cherry red label. ‘voice; the best of 1980-1986′ contains no less than 26 original subtle pearls.
