Myspaces
in Funblog
The unaesthetic pages of Myspace are not only populated by teenagers anymore. You can now find quite a few ‘oldschool’ bands there, whose pages are mainly interested for the music offered on them. Some examples:
Joy of Life released a mlp on NER in 1984 and later a self-released LP. Central member Gary C also played on a few early Death in June releases. You can listen to four songs, including the excellent ‘Warrior Creed’.
6comm, the solo project of former Death in June member Patrick Patrick Leagas, finally has an online presence. It’s not only dedicated to the past, but also to the upcoming Headless-Let the moon speak double album. Hopefully some audio will be added.
Shockheaded Peters, the loose enigmatic collective around Karl Blake, also has a myspace presence. They don’t offer their most accessible material, but you can hear for instance ‘Sublime Prince of the Royal Secret’ off Tendercide.
The Three Johns were hanging around in the same Leeds music scene of Leeds as the Sisters of Mercy, but never became that big. At myspace you can hear their classic hit ‘Death of the European’, but also unreleased material, since the band has recently reformed.
A Certain Ratio was one of the more ‘funky’ Factory bands. You can listen to four songs, including the classic ‘Do the du’ and the early ‘All night party’.
The Neon Judgement from Belgium are present with a fanpage. You can listen to a remix of ‘Fashion Party’ from their recent Box, and the classic ‘TV treated’ amongst others.
