V/A - Steinklang Industries II: 2005-2006
in Reviews
Last year Steinklang Industries from Austria still managed to cram their artists on a single compilation cd, on their latest label sampler they have expanded to a double cd. Like the title betrays, Steinklang Industries II: 2005-2006 includes tracks from Steinklang records released in 2005 and 2006. Therefore no exclusive material, which is compensated by a very nice price. The two cd’s have a logical division: CD 1 contains heavier stuff in the industrial, powernoise and cold electronics fields, while CD 2 deals with folky, neoclassical, ambient material.
The ‘industrial disc’ is of course not easy to digest. Lost of distortion, angry shouting, analogue noises, high frequencies, pounding machinery, just like it should be. Rasthof Dachau, Painslut, Leiche Rustikal, Atrox and Industriepalast are amongst my favourites here. The ‘folk disc’ gives you the opportunity to come to rest.
Of the folkloristic pieces, especially the contributions by Allerseelen, Werkraum, Sturmpercht and Sangre Cavallum are worthwhile. Further there are some impressive soundscapes by Tardive Dyskinesia, Bardoseneticcube and Asmorod amonsgt others.
Because of the cheap price and the high number of interesting artists, I suggest you check out for yourself what Steinklang, ‘your private noisetransmitter’ has to offer.
