The Meeting Places - Numbered Days
in indie/pop, Reviews
The second album by The Meeting Places from Los Angeles, again on Words On Music. Just as on their surprisingly good debut Find Yourself Along the Way, the band creates an atmospheric guitar sound with strong hints at shoegaze and noise-pop.
Numbered Days lasts only just over 30 minutes, but then again you’re treated to 10 very focused songs. The Meeting Places’ music is not just drowning in guitar reverb, it’s always combined with clever melodies which get you hooked.
There are soft melancholic pieces (’Until it’s gone’, ‘Mumble’), more rockin’ tracks (’Love like the movies’, ‘Nothing’s the same’) and classic Slowdive-like shoegaze (’Sink into Stone’). My favourite song of the album is the nicely build up ‘The city’s asleep’.
