Laurence Wasser - Der Lift

in indie/pop, Reviews

Laurence Wasser already made a good impression on me with their demos, their live show at the Hex party in Amsterdam and their contribution to the Tete de Bebe compilation lp. Now there is this two track 7”.

Again I am surprised with the originality, creativity and unique sound of this band. Even though there are comparisons with Les Georges Leningrad, Laurence Wasser has a sound of its own.

The music is hectic and at times unstuctrured noisy post-punk. There is an important role for the percussion in the sound, and as the bandmembers are fans of Einstuerzende Neubauten there is steel percussion in the mix. Laurence Wasser brings you primitve disco as it should sound: simple and effective with a touch of Berlin 80’s in it (think Der Tödliche Doris). Not to be missed!

MvG do something, your reviews are way too short, and it\’s a REVIEW not a description, you don\’t criticize anything…

  2. MvG Says:

Since when do you decide if a review is too short!! If you have nothing better to do then post boring very personal comments on reviews it is quite pathetic… get a life!
Also… I do critize some records… so stop be a fool and read better…

It’s short when you feel that the whole review just looks like an intro after you read it… That’s how your reviews feel like. Don’t insult me and check the Medusa’s Spell review, I’m not the only one who thinks this way. Your worst review is probably the Mz-412 one : my god, imagine how the label must feel “I sent this guy a promo copy and he writes ONLY THIS ??”.

  4. MvG Says:

hahaha… you are the most funny guy I have met in ages… who says I get these records as promos? Maybe I buy all records I review here…

  5. Hem Says:

yeah I’m not surprised you don’t receive any promo then, with all the crap reviews you provide… You must spend like 2 minutes to write a review…
