Fear Falls Burning - I’m one of those monsters numb with grace

Dirk Serries from Belgium must be one of the hardest working men of the ambient music scene. From the mid 80’s on he filled dozens of albums with atmospheric music under the name of Vidna Obmana. In 2005 he started the new guitar drone project Fear Falls Burning.

Fjernlys - Ascending Triads & Luminous Arcs

Fjernlys is a new project of Knut Enderlein, known for his work with Ex.Order and Inade. The first release as Fjernlys is directly a double cd, of which the second disc contains remixes. You could say that it’s a typical Loki release, though Fjernlys sounds quite a bit lighter and more melodic.

Letum - Broken

Ovro - Mosaick The Serpent / Vipera Aurea

Two EP’s by Ovro printed on one CD, this is the latest offering from the Finnish Some Place Else label. Mosaick The Serpent basicly is a quite subtle dark-ambient record. Vipera Aurea has more of an industrial, experimental feel to it.

Laufeyiar Sonr - Vorst

Laufeyiar Sonr left a good impression on me with a couple of demo cd-r’s. Now an official debut cd is released on Belgium’s Neuropa Records. “Vorst” comes in a 7″-size cool blue sleeve, designed by Nikolay Saveliev.

Sky Burial - S/T + Spectrehorse

Apart form churning out many harsh noise releases as Fire in The Head, Michael Page also has a more drone/ambient type project called Sky Burial. This year a debut cd-r was released by Housepig, followed by a cd on Page’s own label Audio Immolation Industries.

Martyn Bates | Troum - To a Child Dancing in the Wind

An interesting combination here: the drone masters of Troum meet the poetic bard Martyn Bates. Together they deliver six tracks, which were produced in mail collaboration in 2004/2005.
