Current 93: Black ships will eat Europe

c93_blackship.jpg Black Ships Ate the Sky is the title of the new album of Current 93, available mid-May. More and more details about it are becoming available.
To celebrate this album, C93 will embark on “their first ever (and, no doubt, last ever) small tour through several European countries”.

David Tibet thinks that Black Ships Ate the Sky is Current 93’s “most ambitious statement to date”. There is in any case an impressive number of musical guests on the new 20-track album: Antony, Will Oldham, Marc Almond, Shirley Collins, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Baby Dee and Pantaleimon, to name a few. Mp3 samples can already be heard at the Durtro shop, where the album can be pre-ordered.

There is an European and an North American edition, with identical tracklisting but differences in artwork and packaging. There’s also a special subscription edition for which many people showed their support.

In May we can further expect a related split 10″ by Current 93 and Om on Neurot Records, entitled ‘Inerrant Rays of Infallible Sun (Blackship Shrinebuilder)’.

The European concerts of Current 93 do not include a date in The Netherlands, but I already didn’t expect that. In 1984 there was a C93 concert in Amsterdam. I also think I have seen an old flyer of a gig in Utrecht once, but I could not find any online evidence.
Antwerp and Berlin sound temptingly close enough though!
