Caesar Romero – The Grotesque Burlesque Revue

Just when you thought that you knew what to expect from Fin de Siècle Media they release this 3”cd. Instead of the usual experimental (and often harsh) industrial/noise this release features weird cabaret music.

The Grotesque Burlesque Revue was a bizarre piece of theatre at the end of the 1990’s by three London based artists. The play was inspired by the fable of Bluebeard. This cd features the remixed version of the original soundtrack.

The music is a nightmarish musical score that would suit a dark and strange fairy tale or a macabre melodrama. Most tracks are based on melodies from nursery rhymes and sea-shanties. The mood is that of a Kurt Weill play, but only darker.

It is the perfect soundtrack to perfrom your own little horror fantasy fairy-tale on, late at night, after some bottles of red wine. Bizarre, strange, but great music.
