A mini cd with three tracks of Drunk with Joy, a band consisting of Mila Oshin (who grew up in Holland) and Kris Jager (born in Hamburg) and based in London. This single will be released on February 9, 2004. I certainly like this material, which I find terribly difficult to describe though. The eclectic songs combine indie guitar pop with moody electronics but also classical strings. The music has mysterious and cinematic feel to it. I have to think of some ethereal 4AD stuff, shoegazing indie, triphop Bristol sounds and more contemporary acts like Hooverphonic. The female vocals are very good, they sound very pleasing to my ears.
On this mcd Drunk with Joy offers three songs full of tension, big-city-late-at-night-music, full of emotion and atmosphere. Music to drown in, with an original mixture of elements. ‘I say goodbye’ has been in my cd-player quite often lately… I’m already waiting anxiously for their album expected in the autumn. Drunk with Joy could become big in 2004!
