Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio & Spiritual Front – Satyriasis

Yet another split / collaboration cd. It seems to be the new trend these days. This time one of the best apocalyptic music bands, Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio, and a well known dark folk band, Spiritual Front, teamed up.

On the cd are two tracks which the bands made together. Next to that both bands contributed three individual tracks. Opening track ‘Your Sex Is The Scar’ is a collaboration and a very strange tune. It is a little like a messed up and darker 60’s folk song. The brass sounds used give the song a special feeling.

The individual Spiritual Front tracks are nice and moody dark folk pieces that show a lot of comparisons with Nick Cave. ‘Song For The Old Man’ is a sort of sea shanty, while ‘Autopsy Of Love’ and ‘Border’ are haunted cabaret like songs with folkloristic influences.

Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio brings once again dark apocalyptic music with some folky and singer/songwriter elements. Songs like ‘Hell Is Where The Heart Is-Gospel of Tomas’ and ‘Dreaming Of My Scarlet Woman’ sound like Death In June at times. The acoustic guitars, dark voice and subtle drums are all elements of classic dark folk music.

Satyriasis is a very fine release that will appeal to fans of dark folk and apocalyptic music and possibly even new wave.
