Shift / Institut – Enders/Beginners

A nice gem for noise fetishists. Two noisy tracks on a limited piece of vinyl.

Shift, on whose label (formerly known as Heidenlaerm) this single is released, treats the listener to a really dense and tormented ‘composition’. Violent shouting and screaming, high frequencies, lots of noise and feedback, this is music for madmen and exorcism.

Sweden’s Institut almost sounds peaceful in comparison. ‘Beginners’ starts as a soundscape with low rumblings and vague Russian speech samples. But don’t worry, the track gets nasty as well, with aggressive vocals and a straightforward but convincing power electronics style.
