Refurbishing

Various music websites have used the summertime to redecorate or rebuild their website…Some examples:

Underground podcasts

Podcasting is the latest vogue in the internet community. Not that it’s revolutionary, podcasts are just another way of creating your own online radio show. What’s new is that the broadcasts are not in streaming audio, but in mp3-format, so you can download them and listen back on your computer or mobile music device (not just […]

Breakaway

Due to holiday, don’t expect many updates on Funprox.com untill August 10… Have a nice summer!

Musick and magick

Galactica, The Journal of Paganism, Occultism, Mysticism, Existentialism, and Western Culture has returned with fresh content after a two years’ absence. Apart form various cd reviews (Death in June, NON, Boyd Rice), they have published an extensive feature about The Sturm and Drang of Allerseelen.

What’s going on?

Funprox welcomes a new reviewer! Jon, aka VW, based in Michigan, USA. International expansion for Funprox therefore, though he comes from a town with a background of Dutch immigrants.

SD III

From 12 – 14 August the third edition of the Summer Darkness festival will take place in Utrecht. The line-up for the festival is now almost ready (see schedule in PDF). Personally I will be involved in two evenings.

Afterparty

Enjoyed myself at the Dwaalspoor party in Rotterdam last Saturday, devoted to dark folk, martial, neoclassical, industrial etc. The playlist is now available.

Due to lack of time, the updates on Funprox may be a little less frequent than usual. Perhaps you can enjoy yourself in the meantime with the following links:

Festival mud

I must confess I’m not being very creative and productive with these tropical temperatures. Perhaps I should have gone to the Glastonbury Festival.

DM breaks the silence

Depeche Mode was never very popular in The Netherlands. Their upcoming world tour will at last bring them to Rotterdam on 26 March 2006, which is their first Dutch concert in 13 (!) years. I was never much of a DM fan in their heydays, but in recent years I’ve started to appreciate them more […]

Antony in the house

Just half a year ago Antony played a solo program in the small upstairs room of Paradiso, but on Sunday he played with his Johnsons for a packed main hall. Many instant classics were played, like ‘I fell in love with a dead boy’, ‘Cripple and the starfish’ and ‘Hope There’s Someone’. Also quite a […]

Benefits and fundraising

Two sad American stories: 1) A website called antiviolence.us has been set up by Sam Pfannkuche from US EBM band Imperative Reaction. His motivation: “The reason I created this fund is because my brother, Josh, was involved in a brutal attack in LA on the Metro subway on May 15, 2005.” There will be a […]

Funprox @ Last.fm

I have been experimenting a bit with Last.FM, ‘your personal music network’. On this nifty website you can listen to all kinds of music in streaming audio. You can build up a personal profile, which remembers which songs you love. Based on these preferences, Last.FM can suggest other artists you might like. But that’s not […]

Online neoform sampler

The fairly new German webzine forum Neo-form.de is proud to present its first online compilation ?Neo-Form I?, filled with folk, industrial and avant-garde sounds. You can download 17 mp3’s in a zip-file, as well as all the necessary artwork. A good thing is that the compilation only contains exclusive material (live-tracks, cover-tunes, remixes, demo-versions or […]

New light

Lichttaufe, the German ‘musikportal f?r neofolk, industrial und d?stere avantgarde’, celebrates its fifth anniversary with a new look, a new database system and new interactive functions. They are also searching for new contributors to fulfill their raised ambitions, as main editor Christian Kapke writes. The site certainly looks professional and stylish, though a little crammed […]
