I stumbled across an interesting looking series of music books called Thirty Three and a Third, “a new series of short books about critically acclaimed and much-loved albums of the last 40 years”.

There are volumes about Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures, The Smiths’ Meat Is Murder, The Velvet Underground and Nico and about 30 more classic albums.

21 new titles have been announced, including My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless, 20 Jazz Funk Greats, Pretty Hate Machine and Pink Moon. The books are published by Continuum Books and are available from Amazon. News about the series can be followed at 33third.blogspot.com.

The book about Unknown Pleasures has been written by Chris Ott, former contributor to Pitchfork Media. He runs a weblog called Shallow Rewards, which highlights “outrageous auctions of pop music memorabilia”. His latest entry deals with a $5000.00 one-sided Morrissey 12″.
