Antony in the house

Antony in Paradiso Just half a year ago Antony
played a solo program in the small upstairs room of Paradiso, but on
Sunday he played with his Johnsons for a packed main hall. Many instant
classics were played, like ‘I fell in love with a dead boy’, ‘Cripple
and the starfish’ and ‘Hope There’s Someone’. Also quite a number of
covers were on the menu, from the likes of Leonard Cohen, Moondog, Lou
Reed (Candy Says) and Current 93 (Soft Black Stars). Antony was in
great shape and his band (violin, cello, guitar bass, accordion) was
also excellent. I’m sure he made some new fans because the crowd was
euphoric.
