A new website has emerged, called jetgroove.com. They offer legal mp3’s which you can download after paying. In their catalogue they have a surprisingly amount of artists and labels in the industrial/ambient/gothic field. Some statements from their professional looking site: “We work with record labels that allow us to have and sell music produced by their artists on our website” and “The music we sell is licensed, and the artists are compensated”. The strange thing is, I’ve heard from various record labels whose work is distributed by the site that they’ve never had any contact with jetgroove.com. Perhaps they not only rip cd’s to mp3, but also rip artists and labels? You can find more stories about this site on the internet, for instance on de:bug.
