new Taalem releases

New 3″ mcd’s on Taalem:

  • alm 17 > no Xivic > “i do blame you”
  • no Xivic is Henkka Kyll?nen, a Finnish artist who already had a 7″ released last year by Drone Records. “i do blame you” might be harsher & noisier, no Xivic proposes us a near 24min long track, perfect blend of noise and dark ambience, piercing frequencies and rumbling drones.

  • alm 18 > ellende > “bitter lemons”
  • Ellende is a mysterious dark ambient-experimental project from Japan. This 3″ gives a perfect example of ellende music, maybe a little harsher and darker than previous works…

    new Taalem releases

  • alm 15 > aidan baker ‘the taste of summer on your skin’ > 3″cd-r

I’m not sure Aidan Baker really needs an introduction. Also a member or the tribal-ambient trio Arc (remember “13th” we released some months ago), he has built an impressive discography in a few months, releasing his beautiful drone/ambient guitar-ish music on every interesting label (Mystery Sea, DTA, S’Agita or The Locus OF Assemblage to name but a few). Of course we couldn’t not be part of (smile !). So here is “the taste of summer on your skin”, “a melodic, shimmering multi-instrumental drone track” as Aidan describes it himself.

  • alm 16 > edward ruchalski ‘refined localities part one’ > 3″cd-r

Edward Ruchalski is an American soundartist who had some releases on Humbug before and also contributed to some Phonography.org compilations, together with people like Toy Bizarre, Eric La Casa or MNortham.

“Refined Localities Part One” is a 20min long track using field recordings and samples of string and percussion motor instruments Edward builds himself. You could compare this piece to some tracks of his previous CDR “Moveable Sites”, maybe more focused on the droney side, like “a densely layered cake of droning sounds, carefully layered upon each other” as Frans de Waard wrote about “Moveable Sites” in Vital Weekly…
