Backworld – Isles of the Blest

After reading a review in a magazin I ordered this album, without having heard a single note from this group. Well, it turned out to be a very good decision, I instantly liked the album “Isles of the Blest” a lot! Backworld makes great acoustic neo-folk, with beautiful strings. Musical mastermind of the group is Joseph Budenholzer, who wrote most of the music and words. And great lyrics they are, with a lot of imagery. Religious themes appear in most songs, like in Heaven´s Gate, the price song of the album, drenched with emotion, at first hearing already it sent shivers down my spine. Another great track is Beautiful Dream, with a guest appearance by Jarboe of the Swans, with her recognizable voice. It is followed by Leaving the Isles of the Blest, another masterpiece. t the Wave Gotik Treffen in Leipzig Backworld proved that they perform live outstandingly as well.
