Dive vs. Diskonnekted – Frozen

Dirk Ivens is quite well known as one of the main personae in the Belgian electronic music scene. The Klinik, Dive and Sonar are his best known projects. Not as well-known yet is Jan Dewulf, though his project Diskonnekted has gotten quite some attention as well, since he first released a EP and later a full cd. One who got interested in Diskonnekted is Dirk Ivens, who asked him to collaborate on an EP. This album, Frozen is the result.

Eight tracks, four new tracks, four remixes, by mostly big names, put together on a disc that fits both the dancefloors and home-listening. Where the music might sound a bit too modern for the Dive-fans, this album is worth listening too every minute that is on it (so all 34). “Frozen” and “Do You Believe It?” are instant club-hits, and thus the ones remixed, by Numb (very fine remix of Frozen), Leather Strip, Combichrist and Inure.

The other two tracks however are more industrial-like songs, more soundscapes with dark voice. Both “Dead End Street” and “Everything Is Fine” create a tense atmosphere, haunted by yourself-feel. They also are the tracks that make these songs into an EP that is more then just a loose collection of remixes.
