Ferguson, Douglas – No. 2

Black Orchid Productions is an experimental tape label from Slovakia, with more than 40 releases. Lately they also seem to employ the cd-r format, for example with this album of the American artist Douglas Ferguson. It contains 8 tranquil compositions, experimental ambient and spheric drones. All tracks were started as guitar improvisations, and later transformed them into these tasteful soundscapes. You can’t hardly recognize the orginal sound source anymore. Most of the music is quite slow and minimal, but certainly not boring. I quite appreciate it as background music. There are also a few more melodic pieces present, like the somewhat psychedelic ‘Extraterritorial’. This cd is quite good, excellent tranquil experimental material.
