After a series of 12”s this is finally the debut album for the German Norther Lite. This band sounds like a modern version of New Order. Danceable, often poppy, beats are combined with guitars. The mix is that of catchy dance and modern rock.
Singles like Reach the Sun and My Pain did already portray the bands dancefloor friendly music. On the debut album there is a total of twelve songs in this style. Four songs already were released as singles.
Especially the non-single track ‘Gone’ is excellent. It sounds like a sort of Placebo track with steady electronic beats. Too bad there are also some ballads on this disc. Even When and Away From You don’t fit well on the record.
If you have collected the 12” singles this cd won’t offer you much extra. For all other listeners Reach the Sun is a nice danceable rock album.
