A cute little 3″ cd, containg one long 20-minute track. Panda Porn is a young act from Jerusalem, Israel. Their debut release arrived at the funprox desk with help of the Topeth Propeth label. This duo have isolated itself in the basement in a hot summer month, to immerse themselves in electronic frequencies and cold industrial soundscapes. The end result is quite worthwhile. Their long track is a mixture of ambient, noise, industrial, experimental drone music. The spheric layers are adorned by metallic noises and obscure sound samples. There are various different phases in this long track, which makes listening to ‘Hibernating’ a dynamic experience. Dense noisy passages are alternated with tranquil, spacious parts. After 14 minutes even some delicate piano keys enter the basement, which is soon after filled with industrial distortion already. No easy listening, but an interesting sound sculpture taking you to various corners within 20 minutes. Especially the last minutes of the cd impressed me, with more percussive and melodic elements. Recommended material to listen you if you’re cocooning in your wintersleep.
