The dark ambient music released by Cold Meat Industry is almost never disappointing. Raison d’être is for years one of the most prominent projects on Cold Meat. To be honest, you don’t need to have all their records to know how they sound. When you own two or three albums you are satisfied, because most records don’t differ that much from each other.
It has to be said that despite this all records are equally good. Requiem for abandoned souls is no exception. Again this is a record built on dark and scary sounds, but always atmospheric, and often orchestral. Dead Can Dance is evidently still a source of inspiration for Raison d’être. In the background some industrial sounds pop up every now and then, which gives the music an even more haunted feeling.
For the loyal Cold Meat fans this is a must have. But, Requiem for abandoned souls is also a nice record for people not yet familiar with this music (shame on you). Fact remains that this cd adds nothing to the oeuvre of this project. And that this is again a very nice album…
