Suspicion Breeds Confidence – Schmalz

Two new tracks by Suspicion Breeds Confidence, a project by the versatile German musician Tobias Schmitt, pressed on a nice piece of vinyl. After some experimenting I found out that the single has to be played at 33 1/3 rpm.

‘Mitarbeiter der Wahrheit’ is a lovely sound collage, a nice atmospheric mixture which is abstract yet accessible. Slow drones, microscopic clicks and scattered saxophone sounds. A minimal piece with hypnotic effect.

‘Hirnsuite’ is noisier, with broken cut-up sounds, deep bass, radio frequencies and a seemingly improvised and fragmented character. The tracks are not long and make you crave for more, especially ‘Mitarbeiter der Wahrheit’. Another nice Miisc release.
