Due to the re-issue of 7 Years of Famine and the release of Le Serpent Blanc ~ Le Serpent Rouge on Ant-Zen This Morn’ Omina has been able to gain a position as an industrial top act. On this new release This Morn’ Omina proves once again they deserve this attention.
There is not a single other act in the field of industrial music that sounds like they do. Mika Goedrijk (This Morn’ Omina’s mastermind) truly creates original music. The pounding industrial goa trance or ritual techno (what you prefer to call it) is impressive and addictive.
The track ‘(fp)’ is an instant dancefloor smash hit. Tribal percussion and harsh beats go along in harmony and the sjamanistic (vocal) sounds in the background create a mysterious atmosphere. Another dancefloor track is ‘(fl)’, which builts up slowly but evolves into an irresitable dance track.
On The Drake Equation the more ambient-oriented side of This Morn’ Omina is also present, as shown in the moody ‘(ne)’ and the mystical ‘(fc)’. I still think the best way to describe This Morn’ Omina is like an industrial version of Eat Static.
This new EP should thus be able to do well in both the industrial as the trance scene. I am sure people in both these “worlds” will enjoy this album and it will do well on the dancefloors.
