Next to the compilation series New Dark Age, with contemporary goth rock bands, Strobelight Records has started yet another series. Strobelights is a collection of goth rock classics and personal favorites of label boss Paul Cuska (also from the band Kiss The Blade). His aim is to give some extra exposure to this type of (goth) music, which is not much heard anymore nowadays.
The record opens with the immortal Death Cult. Even after twenty years this is still wonderful. Not everything on the cd is as old as this. From the nineties great contributions come from Subterfuge, Screams For Tina and Dronning Maud Land. A couple of 80’s acts on Strobelights is a true feast for the fan, like Norma Loy, Altered States and Voodoo Church.
This compilation raises some deserved attention for the genre through classics, essentials and some more obscure tracks. Strobelights is a good initiative by and for fans of this type of music. I can’t wait what will be on volume two…
