Wermut / Rod Droid – S/T

This split 7 “ is another fine release on Hertz, the sidelabel from Kernkrach on which contemporary minimal wave bands appear that show their love for 80’s music.

Wermut evolved from a post-industrial / neo folk band (with a release on Old Europa Café) into a minimal wave band. Their sound has some references to Neue Deutsche Welle music and is rather playful.

‘An Die Natur’ is a slow and funny track which combines anlogue electronic sounds with a clarinet and accordion. ‘On the telephone’ is a little darker. And, although it is not a dance track, I can imagine some people would like to move on this one.

Rod Droid comes from France and produces minimal elektro on his Atari Falcon 030. His music is very catchy and suitable for the dancefloor. Both ‘Lotek Warrior’ and ‘Ma Jolie Trottinete’ have a nice wavish atmosphere.

I guess this record will be sold out soon, as usually with the releases on Kernkrach/Herzt. Also look out for the upcoming 10” of Wermut on the new label Treue Um Treue.
