Fernand Khnopff (1858-1921), born in Belgium. A visit to paris greatly influenced his work, when the came into contact with the creations of Delacroix, Gustave Moreau, and the Pre-Raphaelites. He illustrated various books with Symbolist poetry, from which he took themes such as silence, solitude, secretiveness and deserted towns.
