The female nude was the main pictorial subject in the work of Modigliani (1884-1920). He has a very recognizable style, influenced by Cezanne, Cubism and African sculptures. Modigliani was born in Italy, but he spent most of his life in Paris, where he died in 1935 of tubercolosis.
